"Later this fall", for me, a non-English native, this sounds as the release date could be as late as December 21st.
Anyone having some well-substantiated thoughts regarding this matter? Sorry if posted already.

On my favorite podcast they speculated that Apple will not miss sales for christmas and will probably start around beginning/mid November.

But well, nobody knows except Apple.

Why 'late November'? As I said, for me fall ends on December 21st. Thanks.
What difference does it make? We will all find out when Apple sends out a press announcement or whatever form of communication THEY chose… beyond that, it’s all guesswork

Depending on the release date, I can buy it as a gift for my girlfriend. Besides the fact I want it ASAP, that's why I'm wondering. But you're right. It's all guesswork for the time being.

My best guess is around the next special event in October/November. They will probably say that pre orders for Series 7 will start the Friday after the event and be released the week after. With that it’s probably likely the Series 7 will be out in stores and on customers wrists by the start of November.

Before the next Apple Event is my guess. They are supposedly ramping up mass production this week. So I am thinking Mid October, right before the next Event. My guess is press release October 12th for Pre-Order Friday October 15th, Launch October 22nd. Give or take a week earlier or later.

I hope you’re right.

I’d say this is accurate. And stock will be constrained through holidays.

It does make a big difference for me.

No point spending more $ on a model thats going to last only 9 more months before the S8 comes out with all those S7 "rumours" if anything I'll just get a bare basic aluminium for the first time cause the resell on the watch is close to nothing.

I was going to get the titanium or ceramic if they had one this year.

I don't see apple now permanently changing the Apple Watch releases to December

Whenever an iPhone model is delayed until October, they will say coming in October. The fact that they didn’t mention October already makes me think that it’s November at the earliest.

I’m upgrading to the 7 cuz I already sold my 6 before the announcement. But if I didn’t already own AirPods Max I’d buy that instead of a new Apple Watch. I would find that a more exciting upgrade.

Yeah. They definitely are having major issues. I cannot imagine why else they wouldn’t give a more specific estimate on availability. It certainly hurts excitement about the launch and may dissuade some from buying it. As others said, if you know that you have under a year until it’s updated again, it might cause pause and make them wait.

My wife is wanting her first one, so we’ll probably be buying regardless. If that wasn’t the case, I think I’d be more inclined to just skip the 7.

Rumor is that mass production began the first to second week of September.

I don't understand why they just wouldn't open up ordering and let units start shipping out. Sure, maybe they only have 75,000 units for release compared to 300,000 for previous launches (made up numbers) but get them into the hands of consumers and let others at least get estimated delivery dates.

This leads me to believe they still need to do testing on units coming off of mass production or maybe even final firmware additions to wOS 8.

Otherwise, the Series 7 is going to be like the iPad 3 with a disappointingly short life span.

October release (11 months) = disappointed but still buying
November release (10 months) = have to really sleep on it
December release (9 months) = not buying as we're already around the corner from the Series 8

Just a WAG here: I just ordered a discounted Series 6 on Amazon. Amazon says it will be in stock “soon,” and my estimated delivery date is Oct 16-22. So I’m guessing Amazon is expecting a shipment of wholesale 6’s from Apple within the next 3 weeks as Apple clears out its stocks before unveiling the 7. Right now on the Apple site you can’t order a 6 with any of the new bands, which might mean supplies of the 6 are dwindling.

I think it's very clear that something has gone awfully wrong with the 7th series. There isn't much new in it, it even uses the same chipset as the 6. Those leaks we saw were on the money and something happened between release and final production.

For sure, supplies are extremely low. It’s a very bad situation for them in the category. The 6 is priced too high now, they’re hard to get, and the 7 isn’t available still.
