iPod touch Release Date?

Does anyone know when the actual release date is for the new ipod touch/nano. It says October...does that mean October 1st?

It is odd - not knowing when it will be shipped. It's probably smart of Apple because it gives them the option to stagger shipping of the new devices.

agreed, i just found it odd that Apple did not give a specific date..they usually do.
