Mavericks is most likely about a month away from being released. I feel you when you say that it is annoying having to set-up the MBP, only to update it soon after. Gotta do what ya gotta do though 😉

I'm gonna guess it will be released as soon as the new Mac Pro comes out.

I believe Apple has a quarter financial conference call in October, and in the last few years, the new OSX update came the day after.
