Hi folks. Looking for an inexpensive option for replacing my MacBook Pro that I toasted. I see someone who sells used MacBooks that have new logic boards, batteries, keyboards, trackballs - all new Apple repairs and replacement.

Looking at a few 2016 to 2018 Pros that have these repairs and trying to decide if these are an option for me - to give me some years of trouble free general computing. What do you think?? A good idea - or a mistake??

Thanks, as always…

I'd say the most important factor is your judgement of how trustworthy the seller is. Do you feel confident you are getting what you've paid for? Will they be around in the future if you have any problems?

Next, I think your personality and interests are important to consider. If you are not a tinkerer or you place a high value on your time or you prefer things to "just work", you might be better off buying a refurb directly from Apple or a new machine.

Oh, neglected to say - it was repaired by Apple (Apple receipts), then sold to him.

Someone sold them to him. He has Apple repair receipts, 90 day warranty from Apple.

He’s got a couple of them.
If they have Apple warranty, no EFI password, and no MDM software, you should be fine at least until the warranty runs out which would be less than 90 days since warranty starts from the date the repair is complete.
