Reloading / Blinking off and on of my desktop folders

Can anyone give me some insight to this issue?

About every 10 minutes or so.... the folders on my desktop which are under 10, reload or blink off & on..??

Its seems like this might be a "finder" issue or something...?? My machine is:
iMac G5 / PowerMac8,2 / PowerPC G5 (3.1)

blinking folders

I can't give any insight but i can tell you my computer just started doing that. My blinks are about a minute apart - and it is as if I've clicked on the desktop. in that, as I'm writing this - when it blinks I have to click back on this box to continue typing. I'm on a Mac G5.
Please let me know if you've figured it out - thank you
