Saturday marked the 13th anniversary of Steve Jobs passing away at the age of 56, following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He died just one day after Apple's former marketing chief Phil Schiller unveiled the iPhone 4S and Siri.

Apple CEO Tim Cook once again paid tribute to Jobs on the day.

"Steve showed us that the future isn't something you wait for—it's something you build," said Cook, in a social media post on Saturday. "His memory lives on in the hearts of innovators and dreamers everywhere—at Apple and beyond."

Cook also reflected on Jobs while opening Apple's first-ever event at Steve Jobs Theater in September 2017.

"There is not a day that goes by that we don't think about him," said Cook.

At that event, Apple unveiled the iPhone X, which was a major update to the smartphone that Jobs had famously unveiled in 2007.

The Steve Jobs Archive website contains a collection of quotes, videos, and emails from Jobs, and offers fellowships to young creators to follow in his footsteps. In addition, Apple still has a "Remembering Steve" page on its website with condolences shared by customers around the world following his death in 2011.

Imagine when Steven Spielberg dies.... We won't see more movies like the ones he makes. Remember when Micheal Jordan retired? Basketball was never the same. Many stopped watching. Steve Jobs died and by some miracle he made Apple itself! We get to still see some magic every now and then. Yes, it's 100% not the same, but I'm so grateful he made Apple so we get to enjoy tech! Thank you SJ! RIP!

It sure would be interesting to see how Steve would have handled this whole AR headset situation. Tim Cook is a great leader and has certainly kept momentum going but Steve was truly a visionary.

Cheers to Steve Job! His visions continue to drive humanity forward in many ways.

I really miss Steve. It’s not the same Apple as it was under his leadership. He was never afraid to try new things and think outside the box.

Apple today would rather play it safe and only cares about their shareholders. It’s become rather boring and the software needs some TLC.

He’s flipping in his grave right now.

Why? Apple financials, sales, etc. have done well since 2011. Overall Apple revenue in 2023 was about 255% higher than in what is 2011.

iPhone revenue in 2023 was about 337% higher than it was in 2011. iPhone sales in 2023 were about 220% higher than they were in 2011. The number of active iPhones in 2023 was about 1,100% higher than it was in 2011.

iPad revenue in 2023 was about 48% higher than it was in 2011. iPad sales in 2023 were about 53% higher than they were in 2011.

Mac revenue in 2023 was about 35% higher than it was in 2011. Mac sales in 2023 were about 34% higher than they were in 2011. Mac (macOS) usage share is more than double what it was in 2011.

Tim Apple is a first class Ops guy, there is no doubt about it. Outside of his supply chain work and Apple's profits, which I understand are important, he was a very poor replacement for Steve Jobs. I have to wonder if Steve was all there when he made this decision. He knew full well that Cook wasn't and isn't passionate about design, innovation, or customer experience. I'm a shareholder and I probably own more shares than most, but I would still like to see someone more like Steve running Apple. R.I.P. Steve Jobs.
