Scott Forstall would be Apple CEO by now if Steve were here.

Steve made Tim CEO, it's not like he launched a coup. Steve also told Tim to not slavishly copy what Steve had done, because he'd seen how "nothing's changed, it's all the same since Walt died!" had crippled Disney in the 70s and 80s.

It sure would be interesting to see how Steve would have handled this whole AR headset situation. Tim Cook is a great leader and has certainly kept momentum going but Steve was truly a visionary.

Cheers to Steve Job! His visions continue to drive humanity forward in many ways.

Steve wasn't opposed to 'hobbies' as we saw with AppleTV - I'm not sure he'd have launched VP as is but I think the cautious "lets get it out there and then evolve on real use" method wasn't anathema to him.

Did the s in iphone 4s stand for Steve Jobs?

The "s" in the iPhone 4S stands for Siri, the personal assistant that was first exclusive to that model. However, some customers joked that the "s" stood for Steve" when the iPhone 4s was released after his death.
I never implied that was the official name. How could they possible know when he would pass. It was the connotation of it that is well known. sheesh.

My post wasn't aimed at you, nor was it intended to offend you or accuse you of anything. I was just following this thread and was curious myself and decided to look it up and posted what I found. You can relax now, it was nothing personal...I assure you.😊

Edit: Looking back at the thread, I wasn't even replying to you (you weren't even on my radar), I was replying to two other members. If anyone, you should be going after the second guy (Vistaus) I responded to. He's the one that called it out.🤣

I will never forgot how stoic Phil was in presenting the 4S. The next day I found out why. 4S = for Steve. Too young.
I wonder what would be different at Apple today if he had made it longer? Miss him.
I still have my iPhone 4S. It was my first iPhone and I think one of the reasons I bought it other than its beautiful design was Steve. I still wonder how different Apple would be if he was still with us today.

Tim Apple is a first class Ops guy, there is no doubt about it. Outside of his supply chain work and Apple's profits, which I understand are important, he was a very poor replacement for Steve Jobs. I have to wonder if Steve was all there when he made this decision. He knew full well that Cook wasn't and isn't passionate about design, innovation, or customer experience. I'm a shareholder and I probably own more shares than most, but I would still like to see someone more like Steve running Apple. R.I.P. Steve Jobs.
I’m sure folks here are tired of me saying this but forestall was the kind of firebrand that would have been a good replacement. It saddens me how sick Jobs was, I suspect his decision-making skills were compromised with regard to Tim. Nothing against him personally but Tim has always felt like the wrong choice. But who would go against Steve’s wishes at that time. Sad

I really miss Steve. It’s not the same Apple as it was under his leadership. He was never afraid to try new things and think outside the box.

Apple today would rather play it safe and only cares about their shareholders. It’s become rather boring and the software needs some TLC.
The software needs a lot of TLC. It’s getting worse and worse with every release. They need to put more money in the bug department.

It’s the little things that Steve seemed to sweat - like his story about painting the back of the fence. I feel like Apple has lost that ethos. Big sexy new features sell and fixing bugs- absent a leader willing to stake a flag on that hill like Steve did- well those just don’t move the needle on shareholder value. It’s odd how much of an impression he made on me. By no means a perfect man, and who is, but wow he was thinking about stuff a universe away from everyone else. And he translated that very well into actionable collaboration and success.

He’s the kind of CEO that so many companies desperately need right now.

When Steve ran it the focus was on ingenuity and design. The company was "run" by engineering. Now that he's gone it is run literally by bean counters and HR.

Both can be successful business models if done correctly. The difference is what kind of company do you want to have. The financial Goliath that Apple is now? Or the quirky, always changing, mostly getting it right with new design and innovation, company it was with Steve?

Personally I'd go back to Steve in a heartbeat. Tim has the personality of dry toast, and the keynotes just aren't the same. I liked Steve's keep it simple minimalist approach. As I said in my above post, Steve is my all time business hero. He saved Apple and turned it into something even a bean counter could operate. As far as I’m concerned, Apple is still running on Steve Jobs momentum.👌🏻

The thing I admire about Steve is his determination to fix things. He took an absolute ass beating. Literally forced out of his own company. One of the most humbling moments one could imagine. Instead of making excuses he learned from his mistakes, and came back to save the company he helped create. That stuff just doesn‘t happen in real life.

Tim’s words ring hollow considering the grimy, visionless direction he’s taken Apple
