reminder app not syncing between devices

Reminders put on on my mac air 2013 (os high sierra) are not syncing on my iphone 6s (15.7.2)

Is this occurring because I'm not using the latest iOS version on my phone and the latest OS on my mac laptop?

Probably. If Reminders is linked to iCloud on all devices, they should all stay in sync without any user intervention
