Apple TV+ will be available to stream for free starting on Friday, January 3, with the promotion set to last through Sunday, January 5. For the first time, Apple is providing unlimited access to its catalog of TV shows and movies with no subscription fee.

The Apple TV+ streaming service can be accessed from any web browser and on any device that has an Apple TV app. The Apple TV app is available on all iOS and macOS devices and also Android devices, select smart TVs, consoles, and more.

Apple's free viewing event will begin on Friday evening, starting at 5:00 p.m. local time in countries where Apple TV+ is available. In Europe, the UK, and countries in Asia, the Apple TV+ promotion has already started.

To watch Apple TV+ for free, all that's needed is an Apple ID to log in. Viewers will not need to subscribe to a free trial or worry about canceling a subscription after the free weekend ends.

Apple is offering the free Apple TV+ viewing event ahead of the release of the second season of hit thriller Severance. For those new to Apple TV+, Severance is a good choice for a show to check out. Other recommendations include Silo, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, The Morning Show, Dickinson, For All Mankind, Black Bird, and Bad Sisters.

There are also several movies to watch, like Coda, Killers of the Flower Moon, Fly Me to the Moon, and more.

‌Apple TV‌+ is priced at $9.99 per month, and up to six members of a Family Sharing group are able to watch content at that price point. It is also available in the various Apple One subscription bundles, starting at $19.95 per month.

I've yet to be wowed by anything on Apple TV+ but this is a good toe dip for someone that likes the sort of content they produce!
Are there also series like Animal kingdom, Ozark, sons of anarchy etc on Apple TV?

Very awesome “gift” — and, no matter who you are, if you can’t find something you enjoy (on one of the best streaming services out there), it’s on you and perhaps you just don’t like entertainment. There truly is something for everyone.

No.

Ozark is a Netflix series. Sons of Anarchy is a Hulu/Disney series (Disney acquired it when it bought 21st Century Fox). Animal Kingdom is a TNT (Warner Bros Discovery) series, but oddly cannot be streamed on (HBO) Max while it is available on Amazon Prime likely because Warner Bros Discovery licensed it to Amazon.

Plus, Ozark and Sons of Anarchy (never watched Animal Kingdom so don't know what it's about) might be too violent/graphic for Apple's content standards.

$20+ billion invested...

"Apple is spending billions of dollars a year on original programming that has received strong reviews and many awards nominations. But its streaming service is attracting just 0.2% of TV viewing in the US. Apple TV+ generates less viewing in one month than Netflix does in one day."

Severance, For All Mankind, Servant, Silo, and Ted Lasso are fantastic.
I'm not a fan of any of them aside from some charming scenes in Ted Lasso but it wasn't enough to pull me in. Like I said, this is great for folks that like this sort of entertainment. Apple should do this more often to pull in subscribers.

I understand there is target audience for this, enjoy.
Good Lord I tried to for at least 5 minutes, believe it or not, my brain got damaged. Need some Father Ted cure asap.
Edit:spelling
There we go, Father Ted! That's what I'm talking about.

Could be a bad thing revealing just how shallow their catalog is. I looked through it and it’s not worth the $. Has no one at apple looked at Netflix??

Saturday January 4th, almost 1 am locally in Spain. This promo is not active or even advertised. So it's not all EU, may be some countries. Or maybe not for those who have had a subscription previously. I don't know. I will keep paying 1 month every year to watch what I want.

And maybe Apple is trying to create a brand around quality instead of just brute violence.

After all, Disney built a brand by being kid friendly, so maybe Apple can be the “ educated adult friendly TV” brand

Could you please call RTVE E antell them that they need to make a subscription option for those of us who don’t live in Spain?

RTVE has some great programming that I’d love to watch.

That the only model that makes sense IMO, binge then jump.
But other than the Sopranos and breaking bad, has it been a series that’s been able to maintain quality through all seasons? Ted Lasso got pretty lame and foundation is painful to watch through series season two.

Exactly and thank you. I am glad I’m not the only one in Spain not seeing the promo at all in the app. It’s disappointing.
Also, I do the same kind of one month per year subscription schtick

Planet of the Apps. No streaming service has ever had as awful a pomposity as this; none will ever do it again. Apple only has one appisode available, but that is more than enough. Carpe diem, baby. #goopforever
