I live and die by reminders and it has been destroyed. I updated my iPhone first...and upgraded reminders even though warned not to. (I wrongly assumed I could update the rest of my devices the same day!!!).....since then: notifications dont sync, Siri is able to book reminders maaaaaybe 50% of the time, the rest it says its unable. And worst of all...the reminders never remind me! literally, they dont go off.

was excited for 13.1 and iPad os...was hoping that would fix the issue. It has not. IN fact, the iPad will not load any of the reminders now. I assumed, maybe it was because the Mac the the weak link, so I disabled reminders on the computer. Nothing.

Now I have a brand new reminders app that is, essential, a digital paperweight.

I updated my iPhone from 13 to 13.1 today, then when it was finished I updated to iPadOS 13.1 from 12.4.1 (I think). When the iPad first came up, no reminders at all - 0. I went into iCloud settings, turned of sync of Reminders to iCloud, and immediately turned it back on, waited about a minute, and checked - they were all there - except TWO. I found them, not sure why they didn't sync? This does seem distressingly buggy. Try turning off and on the iCloud setting see if that helps.

tried this, now I’ve lost them all! don’t worry, I screenshotted what they all were.
I spent an hour on phone with apple support. They are stumped. The strangest part is that my iPad has some reminders, my iPhone has some different reminders.....and amazing, not a single reminder is located at iCloud.com

its as though no device is communicating with the other. And, magically, old reminders keep showing up and they can’t seem to find out where they’re being stored. Apple suggested I use a 3rd party app instead lol

iCloud is really screwy with this. I had a problem in the last hour that Messages were not showing on my iPad at all since the update - iPhone is set to share/send them there. I finally tried turning off and on Messages, they started downloading, and now they are working properly. It's like anything iCloud lost its ability to sync with this update.

I’m seeing similar issues with my wife and I’s shared reminder lists. We upgraded both our phones to 13.1 today, hit ‘Upgrade’ in Reminders within 30 seconds of one another on our respective phones, and now our shared reminder lists won’t sync.

She has some things on our shared lists that I don’t have and vice-versa. Items added to the lists on one phone don’t show up on another phone. I think they have some bugs to work out with iCloud syncing and/or the reminders database upgrade. I toggled off and on Reminders under Settings —> iCloud on both of our devices but the lists are still not in sync.

The iOS 13 Reminders now lets you set a day reminder without the need for a time also (iOS 12 and prior required both). However, if you do not set a time (along with the day), it does not show badges on the app icon!!!

Reminders is my everyday go-to app. I updated to 13.1 today but am still having the same issue whereby while swiping through lists, any reminder that your thumb touches immediately prompts you to edit the reminder. It does this erratically and regardless of whether you swipe fast or slow. I thought it was a bug from 13.0 but sadly not. It's frustrating as hell and I am surprised that literally nobody on these threads has mentioned this particular issue, considering how many people have talked about Reminders.

Same here.
even though it’s happening on iOS I suspect due to some difficulty in coordinating with Mojave.
Need to wait until macOS Catalina probably to get it right.
Best to avoid it until then.

LIVE OR DIE
DISASTER

Can we dial-down the drama a little please?

There's a temporary hiccup syncing a To Do list, a minor irritation in the great scheme of things.

Lol. Well, I love your philosophy. But when you have reminders about various dates for delivering payments to people... and now those reminders are gone. It can be slightly disturbing.

If I upgrade, I will also have to upgrade my two MacBook Pros and my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 2 won't be able to access my Reminders. My iPhone 6 is my backup phone (I have two phones with two phone numbers). I think that I won't upgrade now but will when I upgrade my 7+ to something newer and then the 7+ will be my backup phone.

Got that, and clearly we all have different Use Cases.

We're into an interesting place now where this is 'paid for' software and/or cloud hosting. I've always looked at Apple Apps and iCloud (also Gmail / Google Drive etc) as useful personal tools, rather than professional-use software, but we're somewhere either side of that blurred line now.

Personally I would not rely on it to run a business, but I can understand why people may think that they should be able to, and therefore would be more worried.

I wonder if it's an issue with the updated Reminders since I've had NO issues with the old Reminders syncing across my iPad (also on iOS13), an iMac on High Sierra and now a new iMac on Mojave. I have multiple lists shared with various people who are still on iOS12 and we've had no issues. One of the reasons I didn't "Upgrade" was to make sure that they continued to sync. I won't upgrade until we are all on iOS13/Catalina.

It looks like people run their lives or business off Reminders. I use Reminders as a ToDo list - that is grocery lists, home maintenance, stuff to get fixed on the car - so it's not critical at all.

If you use something like TickTick, then you can see how barren & void of features the Reminder app actually is.

If Reminders isn't working, use something else. Again as an example TickTick is feature rich & works across all your Apple stuff. I'm not a fan of Microsoft's To Do app. The UI is horrendous.

I used to use the Android ToDo stuff and it was horrible. Many of us requested features and that it support the iPhone and iPad but Google just let it wither on the vine for many years. I think that they didn't work on it because there was no advertising revenue of the app.

I typically "complete" reminders on my Apple Watch. Prior to iOS 13, status synced to my iPhone flawlessly. Not any more.

My reminders finally appear few hours later my iPhone. That huge relief. iPad still missing some at moment. Hopefully later today it catch up syncing.

It's possible that they have background processes updating all of your reminders and notes when you upgrade and that this may be why things seem really slow. When I open Notes on a new device, it takes a very long time to load them all. Perhaps this is the same process on a version upgrade - and you have hundreds of millions of people doing this at the same time.

Yes, and in my case, even worse than disturbing. My children have a number of medical issues, and I use Reminders to keep track of their medications. If I don't receive a notification, it's quite possible that I could miss a dose (or give multiple doses in the case of reminders that don't clear), which could lead to serious consequences.

I use Notes for this kind of thing. I use a table which I cut and paste every day and the supplements or medications down the left. I enter the time and amount of the dose in the second, third or fourth column depending on the number of doses per day.

That's not a bad idea... we do something similar with a shared Microsoft OneNote notebook. But note-taking apps don't send notifications when medications are due.

This all worked before upgrading to iOS 13.

I generally don't need reminders as I look at the notebook quite often. The exact times of the supplements and medications aren't that important - an hour either way is fine. If it is time-sensitive, then I put an alarm on my watch. It's interesting that there are lots of ways to do these sorts of things.

There are medication Apps out there too. I tried a few a long time ago after a surgery and didn't really find anything that I liked over using Notes.
