I'll put this info here, but unsure if the issues are the same.

I had a similar issue with my ATV4 when I first got them, and it ended up being the Channels app's "shake to mute" feature which allows you to shake the Siri remote to mute the audio. This caused battery draining on the remote where I would have to charge it a once week or so. I've since disabled the feature and everything has been fine since with my ATV4s and ATV4K.
I've just disabled this on my ATV4K and will see if it makes a difference. I have had to charge my remote about once a week.

Anyone else having issues with their remote’s battery not lasting as long as they expect? My old appletv remote needed to be charged like once or twice a year. My new 4K appletv remote has already needed charging twice, in just the couple weeks I’ve had it.
FWIW - after I posted this, things dramatically improved. Not sure if bc of a software update or something funky with the battery tech needing a couple initial charges before it acts properly. Either way, after charging a couple times in the first couple weeks, I haven’t charged it again since.

I just bought an Apple TV 4K and the remote battery has to be charged at least twice in a 7 day period.

I’m seeing some battery issues and remote dying prematurely (compared to ATV 4 remote). Will see if it improves after few cycles.

definitely take to the store and have them swap it out. It took me two times, but I now have a remote that doesn't lose a charge in a week. Since I got this replacement almost 2 months ago I haven't charged it once.

good luck!!

Yes, same problem.. exchanged entire Apple TV and the problem still exists

I don’t know about the Apple TV 4K or the new Siri remote. But the one I use (Apple TV 4) , since 2 years.. I have hardly charged it like 4 -5 times in 2 years, maybe less.. and I use my Apple TV everyday for a time of 3 hrs.. I don’t play any games.

Mine as well. I disabled the "shake to mute" setting in the Channels app as I mentioned in a post above and after a month and a half I plugged the remote in. It was at 61%. I don't imagine everyone has the Channels app, so I too wonder if it was either an update or just the remote needing to be broken in.

That's a good point, I have that as well. I'll disable that as well.
[doublepost=1519247834][/doublepost]Would an older ATV4 remote work with thew new ATV4K unit?
I have a couple extra ones laying around since I upgraded, might be worth a shot to see if the older remotes hold the charge better or it's software based.
