I have an iMac in an upstairs office that I use as my main computer. My wife would like to replace her Dell that is downstairs with a new iMac. Both are on the same network and for what it's worth they are connected via Cat6 cable on a Time Capsule. Is there a way to do a remote desktop so each computer can be viewed/manipulated from the other? Also, what about shared libraries, particularly iPhoto? It would be nice to be able to view the same photo library from each. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Any macs on the same network will show up in the left hand sidebar of finder. If you select the other mac, there is a "screen sharing" button which will allow you to see the screen of the other mac.

As for common iTunes/iPhoto libraries. If you hold down the Alt/Option key while launching iTunes or iPhoto it will give you the option to open a library in any location. Thus, you can store the library in one machine and open it from the other.
