Well, I bit the bullet...

...and went back to LMI. Took the 50% first year discount and now I'm connected again. For £30 it's a fine enough service. I have to say that having the file transfer and remote printing options now make me realise how useful they would have been if I'd had them in the first place. £70 is going to be a bit tough to swallow next time around but I'm hedging my bets that I won't actually need it by then. But in the meantime, I'm pretty happy - I still think it offers the best of most things...

did a lot of looking around
i support macs and pc from my mac and iPad at the office, at home and on the road

logmein costs a few bucks now but is the cleanest answer

best solution especially if u and your client need remote access from who know where
