Is the guide at the top of the MBA forum up to date for how to create an always-on connection (at home) to my imac's external HD (for crashplan backup) and music/photo libraries? what is the best way to go about doing this?

I know i can click on my imac in finder and connect as either a user or my apple account. i assume either gives me automatic permissions, but does it connect automatically when on wifi? of course i have to wake the imac up first... or do i? is this allowed in the newish special sleep mode? all i see is crashplan not backing up and so i don't bother changing my other locations.

side question: MBA calls my itunes folder "itunes media." imac says "itunes music" in same place. i don't really care, don't keep anything but music in itunes, but is it safe to pick that folder?
