I am not a developer (yet), but I have a development question (as a user):

Is it possible to create an app which will be able to login remotely through afp (appletalk)? This would enable remote login to macs to browse and view files.

I've been looking for this capability for some while, but I haven't seen anything that is able to do it. The closest thing to this is ftp, but it doesn't work to login to macs. Also, I've seen the capability to install a program on a mac to enable it as a server, and then access it through iPhone's Safari, but I wonder this can be done natively through the built in mac remote login/file sharing (for a few reasons: 1. in the other method, you need to run the program for as long as you want to log in, 2. only specific folders are available (I think), 3. other afp file systems that can't run this program).

I would think this is an obvious app idea, so I'm thinking that maybe the reason it's not available is because it's impossible to do???

    Please advise. Thank you!
