Remote not connecting coming out of standby mode?

Just got the newest AppleTV 4K and I have a rather annoying problem with the remote. When the ATV comes out of standby mode, the touchpad on the remote is completely unresponsive and I have to push a button to get it to connect. That's when I get the "Remote Connected" popup. This is annoying though because clicking the button will open whatever is highlighted at the moment, which I then have to close and go back to the home screen.

Anyone else having issues with the remote connecting when ATV wakes?

I have this same problem, but not all the time. Very odd. But not sure how to fix it when it does happen.

Same here. I’ve just learned to wake it with the TV button.
