to tell you the turth it would not work using the IR port on a palm or your watch that you used ot have. Reason being is the keyless entry on cars dont use IR to transmissit the signal, it using Radio waves and neither the palm nor you watch will transmit or learn those.

Actually, some cars used to use IR...not sure if any still do today. IIRC, BMW used IR for a while...

hmm I just dont think it a good idea to IR for cars because it requires line of sight to really work. IR doesnt exactly travel though things (like walls and stuff) So you would almost need line of sight to the reciever to work.

Now I have seen IR on keys before but there it only has to go an inch at most so LoS is not a problem.
I figure by now everyone moved over to the rotating frequciny stuff.

I figure by now everyone moved over to the rotating frequciny stuff (makes it almost impossible for some one to pick out of the air and copy)

I know Mercedes used to use it in the '90s (at least on the German C-class). The receiver IR was on the rearview mirror and you had to be in front of the car in sight of the mirror. Not very convenient if you ask me.
