Here we go, another "I told you so". It's only a matter of time that the deposits from water will muffle speaker and mic. I predict a massive outcry of iWatch washers/showerers/swimmers in a year or so.
In my experience with other sport watches, damage is more likely to occur from un-rinsed perspiration left on the watch than by regular rinsing. Pick your poison-- I choose fresh water over nasty sweat crud any day.

It's not a "told you so" at all. I'm just saying I experienced it so heads up to all you other guys too. A quick shake took out all the water and it instantly starting working again. I still wash my watch (I have no choice) but i just hold my finger over that area now. All is well and I do have AC+ so I'm not overly worried. Just sharing my experience with water and the Apple watch.

I wash my watch every morning (and sometimes in the afternoon after running) under warm tap water and have for the past 3 months with absolutely no issue.

The only problem I have had when washing my 42SS is the speaker may be a little muffled until it drys out. Does no harm to the watch, speaker or even my leather loop by washing when it needs it.

Like another poster said, washing is better than not washing and allowing the crud from daily use to stay on the watch day after day.
