Remove desktop icon

I was wondering how to remove a icon on the desktop of hard disk attached at AirPort Extreme.

I'm pretty sure you can just eject it like any other disk, can you not?

You mean, to un-mount it? Easy, just eject it. Drag it down towards the trash (it will turn into an eject symbol as you do so), or right-click it and choose "eject," or do Cmd+E with it selected in the Finder.

Yes you can but is there a way that you can still be conected to the disk without it being on the desktop.

Click on the desktop, then in the menubar, click Finder->Preferences and untick the box 🙂
