Remove item from Finder Sidebar

How do I remove an item from the Finder Sidebar. I meant to drop it in Documents. Now I can't move it to Documents, or to Trash. Thanks for any help!

hold the command key (apple key) down and drag the item off the sidebar. It will turn into a cloud at which point you can release the mouse/key combination

You can also right-click (or control-click) on the item in the sidebar and select Remove from Sidebar.
