Hi there

The last supplemental MBP 2018 update for macOS left over the installer files somewhere and now I have an additional disk at start up of my MacBook Pro next to my Mac & Bootcamp called "macOS Installer". It's annoying because sometimes it boots into the installer partition when I have my TimeMachine disk hooked up.

I'm surprised that Apple didn't remove it automatically after the update. Where can I find and remove it to get rid of the "macOS Installer" disk?

I noticed the folder on my HD called "macOS Install Data" but it's protected and can't delete it.

So annoying.

I don't have it, I think the supplemental update didn't clean itself up in your case.

Does it show up in Disk Utility?

No it doesn't show up in disk utility. Except one small size of 2.5GB that says "VM" which could be exactly that.

However it's not directly a disk to select in the partitions thus can't delete it there.

I guess I will have to wait for 2 more weeks until Mojave is out and hopefully that will overwrite it and delete afterwards.

It boots into kind of a "CMD-R" type of thing and then says installer couldn't install or something as it already has installed successfully.

It just seems a bug or something that it didn't remove the residue files.
[doublepost=1535717558][/doublepost]I also came across this which seems exactly this issue or similar: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...from-partition-from-clover-bootloader.185201/

But his suggestions don't work in High Sierra as the "IABootFiles" is nowhere to be found even when showing all files in finder.

I'd try downloading the manual installer for the supplemental update and running it again. The post install process should take care of it.

Thanks, going to try that now. Hope it resolves it.

Yay doing the re-install again worked. Case resolved. Thanks

Instructions found in the F.A.Q.:

You can mark a thread as "Resolved" only if you started the thread. To do so:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top right of the first post in the thread to show the Thread Tools menu. This is normally next to the Watch/Unwatch Thread link.
  2. Click on Edit Title.
  3. Change the drop-down in front of the thread title to Resolved.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.
Marking a thread as Resolved is a hint to others that a solution or explanation was found or that you no longer need help or advice. It does not close the thread or prevent others from making comments if the subject is still of interest to them.

Yeah but there's no drop down menu next to title. Like I said the function seems gone for me on this thread.
