I have been thinking about buying a SSD for my macbook pro mid 2010 but I recently found out that I could remove the optical drive (which i never use) to place a new hard drive. The installation process should not be a problem following the steps found on this article
http://mac.appstorm.net/how-to/hardware-how-to/upgrade-your-macbook-with-a-dual-hdssd-setup/
My concerns are about how to manage the file transfer from one hard drive to the other (I would put the OS and my applications on the new SSD and keep everything else on my HDD) but I don't know how to proceed.
I am thinking:
1. Back up my HDD
2. Install the OS on SSD
I need some help from there; do I need to remove the OS from the HDD? If so how do I do it while keeping the rest of my stuff on it?
