iPod Remove songs from iphone but keep in itunes?

Hi, I want to remove my Christmas album from my iphone and keep it in itunes but not to be available to download on my phone when I sync them. I can't figure out how.
Any help would be much appreciated🙂

Uncheck them in iTunes and select "only sync checked items" (or something like that) on the iphone's summary page (when it's connected to you computer).

I think that's right.
