Hey, I'm new to mac so apologies if this is a trivial question. I downloaded stuffit expander 2009 the other day to expand something but don't want it anymore. I have deleted/uninstalled it (dragged the folder it made in applications into the trash) however firefox still tried to open certain file types with it. Any idea how I can remove the entry so firefox no longer thinks it is installed?

Thanks

ive just uninstalled stuffit with appzapper, it picks up the files it installs,

if the problems with firefox, it probably installed an addon to the browser, like a plugin or something, it will be in the firefox settings.

Just tried the appzapper but no success. I don't think it is a firefox problem as trying to install stuffit again announces that a previous version is installed, do I want to uninstall it etc.

Will definitely be keeping that app though... very handy ;)

yeah appzapper seems to do a good job,

its easy to uninstall stuff in osx, as theres no messy registry to deal with and etc, and the majority of stuff is kinda self contained within the .app file you drag into the applications folder, apart from that, its always worth having a look now and again through the library/application support folder and library/preferences folder as these are the only two folders that acquire install data from some software installations, and they can be prone to having things left behind when you uninstall or "zap" something!

apart from that, its also worth having a freeware "onyx" read about it first before you use it.
