I'm curious as to what the file was "infected" with; as far as I'm aware there are no viruses for OS X "in the wild."
Most of the time when ClamXAV finds an infected file on a Mac, it's infected with Windows malware, which is far more common than Mac malware. Windows malware has no effect on Mac OS X. ClamXAV will usually name the malware found, so you can look it up and find details about it. There are no Mac OS X viruses in the wild, but there are a handful of trojans in the wild. Read post #4 and the link for more details.

Filename: 9127.emix
Infection Name: HTML.Phishing.Bank-462

Filename: 9158.emix
Infection Name: HTML.Phishing.Bank-462

Lists those as the "infected files" and says that I can either deal with them myself or scan again with preferences set to move them into a different folder.

Those are phishing emails. Those don't actually involve infecting your system.

Search for them via finder and manually delete the files.

I recommend that you avoid using Sophos, as it could actually increase your Mac's vulnerability, as described here and here.

If you still want to run antivirus for some reason, ClamXav (which is free) is one of the best choices, since it isn't a resource hog, detects both Mac and Windows malware and doesn't run with elevated privileges.

I've taken this advice, coupled with GGJ's suggestions above, and had excellent results. I also enjoy using ClaimX AV... nice product and free.

Commen sense is the best protection. :D
I like little snitch to know exactly what's going regarding 'unwanted' applications calling out.

As already mentioned , running ClamAV from time to time does not hurt.

Don't have much more security.

I felt stupid for installing Virus Barrier and got rid of it.
