hi guys, i need help removing java se 6 from my machine.

i accidentally installed it through the pop up menu when opening a program that required it.

is there anyway to completely remove it from my system?

Leave it installed. You can install Java 7 up 55. They can co-exist. Sometimes Java 6 may be required.

i was under the impression that java se 6 had security issues? and also the fact that apple has cease support for it aswell. i don't feel safe having it on my machine.

anyway, I've deleted the folder in /system/library/java/javavirtualmachines and i think it is off my machine.

java -version in terminal returns no java installed
and the pop up menu appears again when running the application that required it.

is this the proper way ??

    regards
