Removing songs from device

I have a pretty sizable purchased iTunes library, but have ~8,000 songs that I've imported from CD's.

I rarely use my MacBookPro, almost all of my time is spent on my iPhone 6+.

My phone is a 128gb, any my current music library takes up about 21GB. I was thinking about signing up for Apple Music so I can stream everything.

I'd like to remove all of my purchased music from my phone, but it doesn't seem like that is possible in iOS9. I have the option to delete, but it deletes the purchase and I have to restore that purchase on my computer.

There has to be something I'm missing. Anyone have any ideas?
