I installed a demo program that I tried and removed. However, the System Tray Icon on the top of the screen is still there. Rt clicking on it offers no option to remove it. Any ideas?

Hold down the Command key, click on the icon and drag it off the Menu Bar (not System Tray).

    To properly uninstall applications:

I had downloaded and installed a demo version of Disk Genius 3, didnt care for it, then dragged and dropped the app to the trash bin (this was before I had posted and read your advice). Im using OS 10.6.4

Open Activity Monitor (found via Spotlight) and select All Processes and sort by Process Name and see, if Disk Genius has still a process running. If so, use the FORCE QUIT button to quit it and try dragging the icon off again. If that does still not work, you can always use the method I quoted to remove remnant files.

image below uses sorting by CPU as an example
