Does anyone know how to remove a vocal track from a song using soundtrack pro? Ive been fooling around with filters and have been searching through the user manual but have not come up with a solution, I could really use your help, thanks!

Essentially, there is no reliable way to do it, within your software or out in the real world. On another forum someone said "It's like trying to get your two eggs back out of a cake mix, after the cake has been baked."

If you have a stereo source, one thing you can try is to doo a "Centre Cancellation".

Put the left and right channels out of phase with each other, and combine them. This will give you the left and right signals, but drop out whatever is common to the two channels -- that is, the centre of the stereo stage. This goes on the assumption that the lead vocals are panned dead centre. Unfortunately, it will also drop out whatever instruments are in the centre as well -- drums and bass most usually. You can combine this with filtering, and copy just the bass frequencies from the stereo mix to put back into your mix to restore some of the lost centre bass and bass drum.
