Sometimes I want to rename a few files at once. On Windows its easy, the rename function changes to rename all, or something like that. On Mac it seems to disappear.. This seems a simple enough function, there is a way to rename lots of things with just one action? And I know there is the automator and some programs which might do some complicated things to get photos to be renamed in batch with the perfect name but that sounds like it would take longer than renaming say 6 files one by one manually. I would be fine with the name I write (X) and then just X1, X2 etc or whatever.
Thanks

You could try a program like Renamer or search for file rename on Version Tracker.

Yes thanks, I downloaded this as it had best rating and free xhttp://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10904274
however, it is not what I want. It could be handy for some things but all I want to do is quickly rename a few files at once. For example there are probs programs like exif on Windows to rename lots of holiday photos at once the names you want. MUCH more detailed and focused than simply 'right click' rename. I don't want any added snazzy, big features like exif etc simply an option to extend the original 'rename' function to multiple files, and rename it what I want, not all this extra stuff. I don't really want some big program to do it, I just thought there was likely to be an addon of some sort to do it.. In fact I thought I saw one once but now forget. If there are lil programs to create a middle click button from 3 fingers on trackpad I'm sure there must be this!
