This was possible not long ago either with ios 15 or a later version of 14. You could tap and hold on the text below an icon and get a menu that allowed the editing or renaming of that icon on my ipad. That ability disappeared soon afterwards and only the ability to edit the whole screen remained. Has this ability returned with 16?

It was for a brief time maybe a year ago but must have been removed. Was just curious if it was brought back.

Create a shortcut and then you can use your own icon and name to launch the app or site.

I’m familiar with that method. A bit tedious, and not necessary for a web site. The temporary method that existed last year was the ultimate in convenience. Just tap and hold on the icon name and got an option to rename it. Why that was taken away I’ve no clue. I had a faint hope that ios 16 might bring it back.
