Renaming Multiple Files

I have about 60 gigs of music... each file is named "artistname - song name". How can I take the artist name out of all of them without timing my clicking to rename them... also, I found that quite a few cds are actually named like "artist.name.song.name" for some reason. Now windows lets me push the tab key and will let me keep going without using the mouse which is way less time consuming. is there a way I can do that on a Mac? Will automator work for what I am doing? I've never used it, just the name sounds like it would. haha. Thank You All!!!

how would you add a function to rename 1.jpg in Italy Folder to Italy_1.jpg


i use the file batch rename but this function is missing

Use the "Add Suffix/Prefix" option, assuming you're using Name Changer.
