I want to code something in TextEdit. How do I save it as a different file type, .s or whatever? TextEdit won't let me do it.

1. Have you (in TextEdit's preferences) sat format to Plain text (it's Rich text as default)?

2. Download TextWrangler and use that for coding instead of TextEdit. It's far superior... 😉

I tried looking at TextEdit's Preferences but still can't get it to work. I'm downloading TextWrangler atm. 🙂

1. There's a Add '.txt' to plain text file check box that needs to be unchecked under the Open and Save tab.

2. Excellent choice. 😉

Wow! Just downloaded TextWrangler and immediately noticed the sheer amout of features compared to TextEdit. And best of all, it's free!
