Dec 23, 2005 #52 Rendered LightWave animation on a PowerBook G3, the thing was running for 2 weeks and it still works like a charm ever since. Do not worry about it, that is what a computer is made for. Besides if it blows up, send your complaints to Apple and they will send you a new one.

So does radiosity, environmental effects, etc.. I had to cut most of the good post production effects from my 3D reel, just because it would have taken a month to render it all.

H howesey macrumors 6502a Dec 3, 2005 535 0 Dec 24, 2005 #57 It should be fine. I found out how to change the speed of your fans in Mac OS X, I'll see if I can find the file to configure it again. Another alternative is to buy a x86 machine with more horsepower behind it. G5 is pretty out dated compared to newer AMD and Intel processors.
