I would probably just replace the power brick with a new 24V switching power supply since those aren’t too expensive and it’s a bit safer than troubleshooting that sort of high-voltage circuit.
The original power supply is glued shut; I would hit the seams with a Dremel tool and then pry it open with a flat-blade screwdriver.
The most I would do with it, though, is harvest the mating connector for the display’s power cable so that you don’t have to chop up the display cable itself.
