Have a 20G ipod that was acquired back in the spring of 2005.
The clickwheel is starting to go bad or not respond
in that you have to press off-center on the quad control icons
or the middle button several times,
- or trying to turn it off is a roll of the dice...
The right side icon doesn't really depress or click, but the other 3 up/down/left icons all depress & click ok. Also the center button doesn't really depress either.

What options are there for getting something like this fixed ?

Apple's repair program is basically - send it in and buy a new one 🙂 I guess a potential solution is the refurb units listed on the Apple Store - and then sell this one as semi-working.

You can be brave and open it up and check out whats making the click wheel freak out...unless you have your warranty then just send it to apple.
