I scrapped up my apple watch crashing on my bike and landing on the watch. I have apple care for it and they said they will repair it but I don't think you can just replace the glass without compromising the seal.
From the repair status do you think it is a repair or a replacement?

Ouch... Sorry that happened to you. Gonna be taking off my watch next time I ride my bike.

I would guess, if your case got scratched up too, your old one will probably get dismantled and the new one will be a new or remanufactured one.

I think if I was to wear it cycling I would turn the face of the watch on the inside of my wrist. I tested it out and you can still get a HR reading if you are tracking your activity.

Put a case/bumper on the watch next time.

Oh my god! Taboo! Case on a watch! Blasphemy! Yea, well it would have saved his watch and deductible.

There's a big difference between protecting the watch during physical activities or occupations where damage is bound to happen, and wearing a big stupid rubber bumper on your watch at all times of the day.

fwiw the applecare lady told me they don't repair watches, only replace with a brand new one

Agreed, can you even get protective gear for Apple watch yet?
I could not find anything in Canada.

Amazon US has some. I don't have the time to find the links right now, but I'll post some links later if no one has done so before I get back.

Not completely sure I agree with that, but ok -point taken :)

I daresay I overstated it, but I wouldn't consider the various costs inherent to selling the device (marketing, etc) relevant to replacement. I would be interested to know what Apple consider the 'replacement cost' to be.
