I scrapped up my apple watch crashing on my bike and landing on the watch. I have apple care for it and they said they will repair it but I don't think you can just replace the glass without compromising the seal.
From the repair status do you think it is a repair or a replacement?

We see the watch. How did you and the bike make out?
I ride several times a week with my watch and plan to continue.

Good question. I cycle most weekdays, and both me (I hope) and my bike are a lot more valuable than my AW. :)

Ouch, sorry to hear about this OP!

I've been thinking about this overtime I ride my bike. I know I'll eventually go down, but I haven't fallen off my road bike since about 7 years ago, so the odds are pretty small. I figure that if/when it happens, if my watch is wrecked, I'll just pay Apple for a replacement watch. (I don't have Applecare.)

I ride a Cervelo S5 and I bent the hanger and scratched up the rear derailur, the watch and my hip took most of the punishment.

If you wear it with the face on the inside of your wrist it should be ok.
I wear it to control my Bluetooth ear bud that I wear in one ear. My Garmin computer $100 can collect 10 times the information from my ride then the apple watch can.

Put a case/bumper on the watch next time.

Oh my god! Taboo! Case on a watch! Blasphemy! Yea, well it would have saved his watch and deductible.

Yea, but the average person who is putting a case on their watch doesn't do anything of the things such as this where a case would be required.

The hanger as you know is purposely made soft to protect the frame from bending. I have bent mine several times in just regular use being around the bike or loading it. Not perfect but I keep an old rear wheel that happens to share the thread size and pattern with the derailleur. I remove the derailleur, bolt on the wheel in it's place to the hanger. I take measurements from the same point on the wheel (valve stem hole) as I turn the wheel until I get an equal reading all the way around. (I leave the regular wheel on the bike and measure from my bolted on wheel to the mounted wheel/tire to get my distance readings) Hard to explain but easy to do once you see it. Check you tube. Anyhow, good to hear it was bruises.

I still have a scar on my knee and a spot on my left elbow from last year that might not go away.

Glad all is relatively well zaria!

I'm with you on the data collection. The Apple Watch doesn't really do anything for me on the bike right now other then keeping track of the numbers for my Activity app. I may use it one day to control the music for bluetooth earbuds, but for me, I'll only listen to music when I'm on a dedicated bike trail. (Not judging others, just saying what works for me.)

At any rate, I'm questioning my own use of the Apple Watch on the bike. Too bad there isn't a way to cross the data over from Garmin or Strava into Apple's activity app...
