Hello People,

I'm in desperate need of some help. I started getting flash messages repeatedly (about 1 every 2 minutes) starting yesterday. It's like a standard flash message, the word 'Helo' [sic] with only the green dismiss button at the bottom. I'll click on dismiss, only for the message to re-appear in a minute or so. Its driving me crazy. Does anyone know what might be going on?

I have tried a hard reset and restoring the phone, but that hasn't helped. Its driving me nuts. Any help would be really appreciated.

Somebody's trolling you with the Find My iPhone feature.
That's the only thing I can think of that would live through a hard reset. Unless you restored from a backup, that is.

Thanks Tank. I restored from a backup. Should i just clear everything out and restore without any applications?

I had 'Find my Iphone' installed, maybe I should let that go as well. I'll gladly let go of all my paid applications if it means that I stop getting this message. Left my phone on to sleep and had to press 'dismiss' about 500+ times. :(

Tried the hard reset again but it didn't work. Going to try my brothers sim on this phone to see if the problem is that my number is being bombed by some flash sms flooding program.

I called up the phone company and asked them to block all flash messages to my phone. Don't think its going to work. Worst case scenario would be to change numbers because this is proving to be impossible to deal with.

i am also sailing in the same boat!!

Hi all,

I am also facing exactly the same issue and it is very very frustrating.. also reduces the battery life like anything.

Please HELP!!

Me Too

Hi everyone,

I too am having the same problem as kingslayer and linktoanshul77. I'm from India and I Guess this problem is specific to indian carriers or maybe one carrier(airtel). I think so because linktoanshul77 is, I guess, also from India and has the same problem. This message is bugging me terribly and my iPhone died in just 2 hours because the message kept draining the battery. Any tips anyone?

OverRange / Anshul,

Yeah, I think the problem might be Airtel related as well because thats the carrier I'm on.

Here's what I did, I switched sims with my brother's iphone and he started getting the messages. So its safe to assume that the problem isn't with the phone or any app that we might have downloaded. Thats a relief. Once I switched sims back, the messages stopped coming. Now, it might be coincidence or the folks at airtel actually did something after the bollicking I gave them.

Didn't get any messages until today morning - around 9am or so. Now I'm getting them again but more infrequently, about 1 every 10 mins or so as opposed to yesterday. I'm going to see how this goes over the next couple of days and in a worst case scenario shift to another provider. Shame really, since I've had this number for 8 years.

Patience is THE virtue!! :)

Hi guys, I did not do anyhting about it and still I have stopped getting the messages now!! I hope it is solved for ever, as would not be able to stand it for even one more day.. Amen!!

Yep, its definitely tapering off now. Havent got one for a few hours. Fingers and toes all firmly crossed that it doesn't.

Out of curiousity, was your message 'Helo' as well or was it something else? Trying to figure if it was the same source for all Airtel or different sources.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Wow, take a screenshot if it happens again guys! How strange.

That's the one. Damn right it was a nightmare. Seems to over now, thankfully. Gave the good people at Airtel a nice talking to.

Now I keep getting weird balance messages now and then. But much more infrequent and tolerable.
