For the last several months and it seems to be increasing, I get popups on both my iPad and iPhone requesting me to sign in to MS mail (outlook and hotmail). I've stopped acting on these requests, but I'm wondering if it's some kind of scam. I don't ever get similar requests to sign in to my gmail accounts. Should I be worried that I've been hacked?

Thanks for the quick reply. Over say the last 6 months or maybe even longer, I've had trouble with MS mail to the point where I had to change my password in order to access it. That's the reason I've been "signing" in when I get these annoying prompts. In fact I'm changed my primary email (read financial) to gmail to insure 100% access to incoming email rather than that annoying "off line" message for MS email. So far ignoring these repeated requests have not bared my access to MS mail. PITA

I think I may have discovered the reason I get daily and some times more than daily, popups asking for my password to email accounts that I have used in the past. Opening the mail App, these problem accounts are apparently still active although missing a password! I'm hoping the problem will now be corrected as I'm deleted the accounts with no password. For the most part I very seldom even check email on either my iPad or iphone, and use my MBP for this chore since it's much easier to reply with an actual keyboard.
