replace fan imac?

Since new (2005) my iMac G5 1.8GHz has had noisy fan(s). When it was new I took it to Apple Store who it was fine. Last few days it is really noisy: a definite whirling, rattling noise bottom left hand under the screen all the time, even when hardly working. Can I, as a handy sort of a bloke, buy a new fan and install it myself?
I have always been a bit shy looking inside my Mac, though updating RAM was easy enough.
