You can fuse but it's useless.
In this case macOS can't give a priority on the fastest drive as it considers tha both SSD (PCIe and SATA) are equal.

No, the order of the drive in the array doesn't matter.
It relies on drive technology.
You confirmed my suspicions. o_O

Silly question. I'm upgrading my dead Fusion drive from HDD to SSD 2.5" can I just buy a 3.5 --> 2.5 bracket? That's what it looks like in most tutorials but all the kits for doing this don't seem to include that bracket.

Fairly old thread but hopefully someone can help me out.

The HDD of my Fusion drive was failing SMART on my late 2012 27" iMac. I replaced the HDD with a Samsung 860 Pro SSD and when I went to format the drive, it said I needed to 'fix' the Fusion drive. Unknowingly, I did that and it fused both SSDs together. I'm getting R/W of 500MB for both which is great, but now I'm having a fan noise clicking issues (not consistent, but intermittent).

My question is how to do you 'unfuse' the Fusion drive in Terminal? I've read that similar statement in numerous forums and websites but have yet to see the actual code to use. I'll have to backup my internal iMac drive as I know it will be reformatted.

Any help is much appreciated!
