them shops are that light everything glows!

Anyway, wether i'm looking for defects or not, they shouldn't be there!

maybe im being ignorant, but my Samsung Tv has no faults, physical or technical neither does my Ps3, my Macbook or anything else i own.

Out of the 9 or 10 iPhones i've encountered in close detail (mine and others) i don't think i've see one without some degree of light leak...

I wouldn't bother

Well mine which cracked had no light leak at all!

And i wouldnt class this one as minor, its top to bottom down the left hand side.

I might try and get a picture of it tomorrow.

What do you think? Do it/don't?

I don't have any issues otherwise and I know quite a few, if not most of them, have light leak. I know there are some that don't, for example my father's doesn't have it. But i'm wondering if it's worth replacing or not.

I've already done a few swaps with 3G and I did a million with the first gen when I had the most intense electronic OCD.

wait a week. if it still bothers you do it.

what do you guys think of a transparent apple logo on back like the macbooks. I think it's a neat use of the internal light you guys are seeing but I kind of think the reflective apple is already more of a billboard than I;d like.

The only problem is the fact that there is no light at the back of the 'phone :)

Anyway, light emitting from the back won't solve the light leak issue.

Taking mine back on Friday, it will only be one week old as its a replacement for one which cracked.

how do i know if my iphone has light leakage, ive never noticed it on mine but then i don't know where it would occur!

Help!

This is retarded (and i don't use the term lightly) why would we tell you

This is like someone who is already perfectly happy with their body image asking other people to help critique their body. What you are doing is creating/looking for a problem that a) doesn't exist , b) never bothered you in the first place

Thanks for the diagnosis Dr.

/sarcasm

Well the minute i used my iPhone in the dark there was a blaring case of light leakage therefore its going back to Apple

I posted this in 2 other threads about "light leaks". It's quick and easy to fix I wouldnt bother returning it.

All you need is a razor blade. In between the glass and the bezel there is a thin rubber seal. If you place the razor blade between the glass and that rubber seal you can GENTLY massage the seal outwards from the glass to under the bezel so that you can cover the light leaks. I had about 5 "leaks" going up the entire left side of my phone and now don't have any. Not too big of a deal but it was so easy and quick to fix I figured I'd share.

Tried it with a needle earlier and it didn't work, maybe because i did it with a needle. I'm going to upload some photos in the morning.

Ditto. I used an Xacto knife and gently pushed the seal back towards to edge of the phone. Sounds ridiculous, but it eliminated the leaks I had.

There we have it, one in a light room just to show that i'm not obsessing under a duvet looking for light leaks, its quite evident its very noticeable in a lit room.

The other photo is what it looks like when using it at night.

I may be easily satisfied but - what's all the fuss about?

that it shouldn't be there!

Not only does the light leak bother me but all the every day dust and debris that hands around in pockets will get down there.

And im going to Egypt in the summer, so i don't want humidity building up there, because i know Apple would then turn around and say its water damage.

So what would you do in my position

Probably try the razor blade "fix", but apart from that, nothing - apart from generally looking after it!

As far as ingress of dust is concerned, what are you doing about the gaps round the rocker switch, 'phones socket, docking socket etc?

If you're going to spend time in a dusty, humid environment, it's a good idea to keep it in a zip-closed plastic bag.

Yeah i did use a Zip Bag when i went to the Caribbean last summer as it was summer and stupidly humid!

Im just not too happy about it. I couldn't fault my other phone apart from the crack which appeared a few weeks before taking it back.

It had no dust under the screen, the volume buttons and silencer were solid no shakiness, the fitting was right no rough edges.

I feel like i've been given a sub standard phone in replacement for one which was fine for 9 months.

In that case, I'd try to get it replaced :) If you don't, the thought of what you could of done will just keep on nagging away at you!

Yup, i'm glad you agree with me!

I'm going to go the Apple store on Friday at the trafford centre and see what they have to say about it!

I might be cheeky again and ask if i can BUY a refurb 16Gb white one, they said no last time but its worth another cheeky punt, i'd let them keep the black one for what its worth. I wonder if i will have any luck!?
