Replace MBPro hard drive with one from a Macbook?

Hello... My Macbook Pro's hard drive recently crashed. I bought it in 2006. Can I use a hard drive from a 2009 Macbook (not pro) to replace it?

It will work, they are both 2.5" SATA drives

Just buy a new dive there not expensive, and it will benefit you because it will only reduce the failure rate.
