Replacement backs

Does anyone know if it's possible to get an actual replacement back for the 3g, in different colors? Like instead of putting a cover on it, putting a new back on the phone?

It's definitely possible - someone on here did it. If I'm not mistaken, he bought the kit on eBay. I think it's a bit of a hassle to install though.

it's not really going to protect your phone any better then going naked. Why not just put a skin on it. Minimal protection but you can either go clear or just about any color. this will give you a idea. this site you can submit your own for $7 http://www.uniqueskins.com/Products/Apple/Custom+Apple+iPhone+Skin

And this won't void a warrenty.

Not really going for protection, just a different naked look. Although I do like those custom skins, that is cool. Also warranty is no issue as I have a used jailbroken/unlocked 3g.😛

ebay for sure. I have my silver back on order myself. Paid like $19 shipped. I'm still gonna cover it with a black airjacket unless I ever get a newer macbook then I'll go clear airjacket so it'll match.

I myself bought mine used and its out of warranty so I don't care. I did the same with my 2g and made it black. It was harder to take apart iphones then, and backplates didn't have the parts on it, you had to take it off the old one 🙁
