Has anyone been upgraded when you replaced your faulty device? Perhaps the store had no stock replacement of your model and was upgraded.

No, they will replace it with the same phone (might have to wait to have it in stock) or give you the option to pay extra for an upgrade if they don't make the phone anymore or give you a gift card with how much the phone worth and buy yourself a phone when you want.
