So I have beer damage to my mbp.

If apple diagnosis the problem and finds only the optical SuperDrive and HDD are shot what are my options? If the logic board is fine then what are some upgrades available?

I'm thinking currently 7200 rpm 750 gig HDD from new egg and maybe an ssd in the optical bay. Has anyone tried this or does anyone have observations? Links to compatable products?

It's a 15" 2.2 MBP early 2011

We'll have to wait and reevaluate your situation after Apple looks at it. Only then will we be able to suggest a lot better solutions for your problem.

Aside from what I said... Be ready to buy a new MBP if its "totalled".

If it is salvageable, maybe Apple might help. If they do, you'll be ok. If not, then look for what needs to be replaced after the diagnosis.

Newegg or Amazon are solid places to go shopping. I got 2x4GB G. Skill memory RAM for $39.99 with a free 4GB USB stick from Newegg a few days ago on a discount.

Good luck!
