I've tried both IOS & Android phones. Prefer IOS but seriously desired the Google Pixel prior to release for 2 big reasons; Google Maps/Assistant, as their combination is infinitely better than Apple Maps/Siri.

Mainly referring to in-car usage as the voice recognition & ETA/traffic/routes/User interface are MUCH more accurate.

Really wish Apple allowed us to select default Map App (slight chance) & default voice recognition (no chance).

Just venting here. Anyone else with me?

I admit I thought the same, but it could be a stepping stone toward maybe allowing IOS devices to detect "ok Google" voice commands & then returning results in Google-family Apps.

I thought the mere availability of Google Assistant on IOS would never happen, as I'm sure many others did too.

But I hold hope that the App will eventually trigger via voice commands, no matter what you're doing.

Maybe you need to say to the iPhone "Hey Siri, what's the Chelsea score on Google Assistant?"

...because that's the closest we are going to get unless Apple opens iOS way more than it is now. And I can't see that happening under Tim Cook. Apple wants us to use Siri and Apple Maps for daily tasks.

If you want the full Google experience, you need an Android.

Apple maps is getting way better in iOS12 (replacing 3rd party (TOMTOM) data with the 1st party LIDAR vans data), AND! iOS12 will enable google maps in CarPlay. Best of both worlds?

Unfortunately, Apple Maps is much better in some regions than others.

It's primarily an improved experience in the USA, going by many views here.

In countries like Australia, it's way behind Google Maps in both functionality & the maps themselves...

And the UK. Apple has a lot of catching up to do

IOS12's nearly here & we know what that means - Google Maps for CarPlay's just around the corner!

Who's as eager as I am to see it in action?
