What are my options and costs?

Thanks,
George

Thanks its $229 to repair? I paid $260 for the watch. Are there other options?

It depends what options you are seeking. If you want third-party repair, you might save some money, but I prefer Apples repair services because they use OEM parts and the stand behind their product. Otherwise, if that’s out of your price range to have the display repaired from Apple, then you could start maybe looking at selling your watch broken and consider a gently used Series 2 what it will cost you to replace display on the Apple Watch.

Its dissappointing isn’t screen repair for the iPhone 120 USD?

I can basically throw away the watch. It feel on the floor from my hand it wasnt that hard of an impact. Have I know that its a pricey repair would have bought Care+.

Most logical is to dump the broken watch and buy a new refurbisbed one.

expensive accident ruined my holiday.

As I mentioned, you can sell the broken watch for some cost to help offset the cost of a replacement watch that you could consider purchasing. Or, You could bring it to an Apple store if you have one and see what your options are besides that. And you also have the option of looking online to find a gently used Series 2 that might include Applecare if applicable.

Or buy the OEM part yourself and find someone who can do it for you. I’ve done that before. Saved a lot of money.

Where can you buy an OEM Apple Watch display? As far as I know, Apple does not sell OEM parts, unless there is another vendor you are aware of?

Although I doubt you will find to many people that would be willing to repair the Apple Watch or at least have experience with it. I have not repaired the Apple Watch myself, but I certainly would not allow anyone else to repair it unless they were 100% confident, mainly being others have tried to repair the Apple Watch from readings on this forum and have issues with the force touch.

I looked into this. And what you said is actually _not_ true, you cannot purchase an OEM Apple Watch display from Apple. Simply because Apple does not sell any of their OEM Apple Watch parts for repair.

(The Only option you would have is a third-party Apple Watch display, which I don’t even know if those exist or not.)

Just tagging along with OP's misery:

My series 2 had the screen crack all the way around the bevel and just hang by the ribbon. I never hit it or dropped it. What sucks is that I was swimming when it fell off so the inside got wet. I'm assuming that it's not even worth looking at fixing right?

I had purchased that s2 on craigslist for $200 (a steal) when the s3 launched. $229 seemed ridiculous for 1+ year old tech so I purchased a s3LTE on CL just a few days ago for $300 and it has applecare through October 2019.

I’ve never tried looking up an OEM part for the watch but have purchased one for an iPhone a few years ago.

The pricing reflects a general principle and reality in the repair business. Repair prices are not proportional to the new-product price, or the size of the product; they're related to the cost of parts and labor. Repairs are generally far more labor-intensive than the manufacture of the original, mass-produced object. Further, hourly labor costs in the US and Europe are higher than they typically are in the country of manufacture.

Apple told me they don’t warrant cracked screens even with Apple Care.
