Replacing battery in Mid-2009 MBP ?'s

So I'm replacing my battery today... anything I need to do afterwards? Reset the SMC, let the battery drain FULLY and then charge FULLY before you using, etc?

Just things like that... any thoughts? or direction?

Or do I do nothing, simply replace it and move on

The only thing I would recommend is resetting the SMC.

Thanks! Which refresh my memory - that's simply taking out the old battery, putting in the new one, BUT before I plug the new one in I hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then plug it in - right?

According to it you do not need to have the battery removed to reset the SMC.

To reset the SMC:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your computer.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Battery replacement a success! It's been YEARS since I've seen this much charge! Just a like new computer!
